This year we may not see a White Christmas in Saskatoon, but hopefully for all of you it is a Bright one! Over the holidays Christmas lights will gleam from rooftops and on Christmas trees all around town. These lights bring out the Christmas spirit, but as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor taught us year after year, if you get too carried away with your lights you might not have any at all! Here are a few tips to help you stay safe this Christmas:
- Check all cords before using to ensure they are not damaged or frayed
- Use UL approved electrical devices
- Test your smoke alarms and replace the batteries if necessary
- Turn off your lights before going to bed or leaving the house
- Do not overload an outlet
- Do not place extension cords in an area that is a tripping hazard
- Avoid running extension cords under rugs or furniture
