Pricing FAQs Providing Quality Service

Pricing FAQ

You’ll Always Know the Cost of Service Before We Begin

As much as we wish it was possible, it’s often difficult to predict when a plumbing, heating, cooling, or electrical issue will occur. This can leave many of us unprepared and worried about the financial burden it may impose. At Centennial Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, we never want to leave our customers in the dark. This is why we always provide upfront, honest pricing in writing, so you always know the price you’ll pay before we begin any work.

Because no two jobs are the same, it’s important that we go to your property to assess the situation. This will enable our experienced technicians to determine exactly what needs to be done and find ways to save you money in the process.

How are your prices determined?

Through our years of experience and completing jobs, we’ve been able to measure the average time it takes to complete a variety of services, the cost of the materials and equipment needed, and the cost of running a successful business that produces quality work we can stand behind. We’ve compiled all of this information into a guide that we use to provide each of our customers with completely transparent pricing.

To arrive at the final price you’re quoted, we will first have a technician arrive at your property and determine the various tasks that need to be completed. We will then calculate the total of all tasks and present the price to you. We do it this way so we can identify any services you don’t need and help save you money whenever possible.

Why don’t you charge by the hour?

While many other companies may charge based on hourly rates, we don’t operate that way. We believe that charging by the hour is unfair to property owners who have zero control over the speed in which the technician works, whether the technician has to leave to get another part, or whether the job takes longer than expected. It also means you don’t receive the total price until after the work is done. At Centennial Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, we want don’t want our customers to have to wait to know how much the job will cost.

Why is your pricing different than other companies in the area?

There are many different variables that contribute to a company’s pricing. Many companies, especially plumbing companies, are started by plumbers early in their career who are just learning the ins and outs of running a successful business. These companies tend to not last long.

The difference with companies that are established is that they are typically run by experienced technicians who know what it takes to provide high quality services and manage a business at the same time.

At Centennial Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, we base our prices on how much it costs to keep our business running while also providing affordable services. We’ve calculated our prices based on what would keep us afloat for years to come while still providing services that customers in our community can afford.

How much does a water heater replacement cost?

Unfortunately, we cannot give you a price without first having one of our experienced Saskatoon plumbers inspect your unit. This is because as water heaters age, they need more and more updates to ensure they operate safely. We’ve found that we’ve had to replace or install missing expansion tanks, gas sediment traps, flexible gas lines, and more.

Can I receive a price over the phone?

At Centennial Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, our experienced and friendly office staff are not experienced plumbers, HVAC technicians, or electricians. This means that they are not qualified to determine the exact work that needs to be done.

To prevent us from giving you a quote and then having to raise the price once we see how much work needs to be done, we only give our customers prices in person and after we’ve assessed the situation at hand.

Can you estimate how much my service will cost?

While other companies may offer estimates, our experience has found that this is often detrimental. Many times, the estimates are lower and there’s nothing worse than having to go back and ask for more money.

Additionally, because each situation is unique, we cannot accurately determine what needs to be done until we arrive at your property and perform a thorough inspection.

Do you charge dispatch fees?

Yes. This is to help ensure that we’re able to keep our trucks running and fully stocked. The price is included in the total price that you’re quoted after we’ve performed a through inspection and determined what work needs to be done.

Do you offer free bids?

For larger projects, we will head to your property and present you with your options at no charge. Some of these projects include water heater installation and replacement, repiping, renovations, and more. We welcome you to call us to get a complete list of services that include free bids.

Are there additional fees for service afterhours?

Yes. In order to accommodate paying our technicians overtime, we charge more for service on Sundays and afterhours.

Do you charge more for service on weekends?

At Centennial Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, we are open on Saturdays and do not charge extra for any service during our normal business hours. However, any service on Sunday is considered afterhours service and comes with an additional fee.

Is there an extra cost if I live far away?

For work that’s within 20 km of Saskatoon, there is no charge. We charge a $107 mileage fee for jobs that are 20-45 km from Saskatoon and a $213 mileage fee for jobs 45-60 km outside Saskatoon.

Do you charge more for jobs that take longer than expected?

No. This is one of the reasons we don’t give estimates before we realize what work needs to be done. Our prices are all-inclusive; once you receive your quote, that price doesn’t change unless you decide to have more work done.

Do you have any discounts available?

Yes! In addition to our coupons, we also offer seniors a 10% discount.

What are my payment options?

We require payment in full upon completion of the job. We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. We also offer financing options through third party lenders.
